Kruger Packaging Elizabethtown Marks Major Milestone

$114 million state-of-the-art packaging plant set to open in summer 2022

Elizabethtown (Kentucky), December 2, 2021 – Kruger Packaging team members, Elizabethtown Mayor Jeff Gregory and community leaders visited the T. J. Patterson Industrial Park today to get an exclusive look at the exciting developments, including the installation of the packaging plant’s walls, occurring at the future site of the Kruger Packing Elizabethtown Plant.

“The City of Elizabethtown is beyond excited to welcome Kruger Packaging to our Industrial Park,” said Mayor Gregory. “Kruger checks all the “boxes” we are looking for when recruiting quality industry. They are a well-respected, highly diversified, century-old Canadian company that has already shown the desire to be a great community partner.” He added, “We want to congratulate the Kruger family for their newest investment and thank them for placing their trust in Elizabethtown.”

The $114 million state-of-the-art facility will manufacture environmentally sustainable packaging products, creating nearly 150 new jobs and supporting countless more in Hardin County and across Kentucky. In fact, it is anticipated that the 400,000 square-foot packaging plant will produce over 2.4 billion square-feet of 100 percent recycled corrugated boxes—the equivalent of nearly three football fields.

“Elizabethtown has a strong, diverse, talented workforce and is an ideal location to start and grow a business,” said Kruger Packaging Elizabethtown General Manager John Keith. “We are excited to call E’town home, and we look forward to working with Mayor Gregory, local businesses, other stakeholders, and our newest neighbors to ensure that the community we all care so deeply about remains strong and continues to thrive.”

Once complete, the Kruger Packaging Elizabethtown Plant will be the company’s first-ever American packaging plant and will utilize robotic and automated technology to build better boxes for well-known brands as well as countless medium and small businesses throughout Kentucky.
